Main purpose of position

Overall management responsibility of all sites and head office - including all commercial, financial, tax, compliance and regulatory matters. Further, overseeing EPC and O&M contractors on behalf of the SPVs and supporting project development

As the General Manager of the SPV’s / Project Companies, the Finance & Asset Management reports to their BoD and general meetings

The position covers all compliance matters of the entities in Country, including internal and external financial reporting, direct & indirect tax and secretarial matters. It also provides vital support to local business development activities and monitor the wellbeing of the local operations.

For some joint ventures Client expects to enter, the JV partner will be the EPC, O&M and AM contractor. For those projects, the Finance & Asset Manager will undertake the role of being one of the custodians of Client's investment acting as an Investment Manager ensuring that company's interests in the project is properly managed.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure co-ordination with equity partners, presenting monthly performance to the, SPV BoD and General Meeting and highlighting key issues with potential solutions
  • Act as the SPV / Project Companies’ General Manager vis-à-vis its Shareholders and all third parties
  • Act as the SPV representative under all applicable contracts, project and financing agreements, including but not limited to the Management Service Agreement (“MSA”), Power Purchase Agreement (“PPA”), Engineering Procurement Contract (“EPC”) and Operations and Maintenance (“O&M”) Contracts.  
  • Conduct effective liaising with all stakeholders like Banks, utility, state administration etc
  • Ensuring overall compliance of all laws, regulations, covenants in various documents including compliance towards lenders, authorities and off-takers in relation to the power purchase agreements
  • Ensure compliance with the applicable health, safety and environment requirements as well as any social development obligations;
  • Obtain any outstanding consents, licenses and permits, maintain and ensure continuing compliance with all permits as well as with applicable laws and regulations;
  • Enforcing all contracts including claims on insurance, contractors, vendor guarantees etc. as well as timely renewal of insurance policies
  • End-to-end responsible and accountable for P&L of the company
  • Manage, monitor and execute all commercial, financial and compliance related tasks
  • Monitor the plants’ electricity production, downtime and performance, in cooperation with the O&M Team prepare operating reports and root cause analysis;
  • Analyse the variation proposals received from the O&M or EPC Contractor, as well as cost estimates related to corrective maintenance and additional spare parts;
  • Visit the project sites, maintain relationship with all external stakeholders, including the local communities and the local and regional authorities.
  • Support the cross functional team with hiring, talent management and growth of the entire team
  • Manage any outsourced functions
  • Implement and bring efficiencies to technical, E&S, finance & asset management processes.
  • Part of management group of the Operating Company*
  • Take part in developing the business strategy and action plans to secure new opportunities;
  • support and challenge the project development, project finance, construction and ultimately operation & maintenance activities. In doing so the F&A Management is expected to be a frontrunner in terms of proactively identify business opportunities and risks, suggesting actions in response to these as well as implementing the actions agreed in coordination with the local company management team. In particular during the first year pre and post start of production, the business environment will be highly dynamic and especially demanding;
  • set up and lead the local Finance and Asset Management organization;

 

Qualifications  

  • Formal educational background
  • University level degree, preferably with specialization in Finance, Accounting;
  • Solid academic results;
  • Comprehensive excel skills

 

Work experience

  • 5-10 years of experience within accounting, tax, VAT, import duty, controlling. budgeting and internal controlling experience;
  • IFRS and local Indian accounting regulation knowledge and experience;
  • Preferred experience from the Renewables, Infrastructure sectors or from other industries / companies with strong financial practices;
  • Preferred international experience either during study or work;
  • Preferably, experience of a business start-up / starting a finance department from scratch;
